Wired for Words

How language rewires your brain — one rhetorical device at a time.

About the Podcast

Wired for Words is a student-led podcast that unpacks how language rewires the brain — one rhetorical device at a time. Hosted by high schooler and neuroscience enthusiast Isha Jayakumar, each short episode explores a single rhetorical technique — like repetition, metaphor, or allusion — and breaks down why it sticks, how it works, and what your brain is doing behind the scenes.

Blending literary analysis with neuroscience, the show features guest speakers, weird brain facts, listener challenges, and real-world examples from speeches, songs, and pop culture. Whether you’re an AP Lang student, a writer, or just curious about how words move people — this show is your invitation to think sharper, speak smarter, and stay wired.

Meet the Host

Isha Jayakumar is a student at Alpharetta High School (Class of 2027). She aspires to work in the medical field and has a deep interest in neuroscience and data science. Her curiosity led her to explore how hyperglycemia contributes to Alzheimer’s, guided by a UGA PhD student mentor.

Outside the classroom, Isha is a competitive swimmer at Dynamo Swim Club and is actively involved in school organizations like HOSA, FBLA, CATS, and Raider Ambassadors. She is also the founder and Co-President of her school’s UNICEF chapter.

She volunteers at Aurora Day Camp, supporting children with cancer, and participates in TIE High School and the Global Thrombosis Forum. Her love for narration began at age 12 with her first podcast — now, she’s diving into how language shapes the brain with Wired for Words.
